Position HighlightsDepartment: MSG SleepHours: 40.00 per weekShift: 1st ShiftWork Schedule: DaysPosition SummaryThe Sleep Technician works closely with the Sleep Medicine providers of our Sleep medical practice to provide information and services to patients under physician supervision. The Sleep Technician conducts hands-on patient appointment visits in conjunction with clinic providers as needed. Essential Duties & ResponsibilitiesDuring scheduled patient visits, discusses results of sleep studies with patients per the order and direction of the patient’s Sleep ProviderReviews PAP machine downloads with patients and provides personalized informationPerforms compliance downloads of PAP machines as required; adjusts pressure as ordered and under the direction of the providerIndependently schedules mask fit Tech Visit appointment types to address patient issues with mask, pressure, comfortRemains updated and educated on insurance guidelines and changes regarding patient care and equipmentProvides patient education on their personal insurance guidelines and provides patient assistance as needed regarding covered PAP and mask issuesMaintains knowledge of the different types of masks and PAP machines and can communicate information to patients and providers as neededSends orders for appropriate PAP machines to home care companies, working closely with these companies to facilitate the PAP orders and follow up requirements based on insurance guidelines for order PAP and suppliesTrouble shoots patient complaints and concerns regarding humidity tube temperature and other PAP machine/comfort issuesAssists providers with specified patient visits as neededHandles all sleep clinic related phone inquiries and emails from patient and home care companies and other entities, documenting calls and routing to appropriate providersMonitors sleep clinic in baskets and EMR work queues throughout the day and handles/scans as appropriateCompletes required documentation to ensure proper billing with approval of sleep providerStocks and keeps supplies of CPAP masks and accessories for patients Maintains PAP order logs Minimum QualificationsMinimum of 1 yr of Sleep Clinic or Lab experienceCertification by the American Academy of Sleep Medicine (AASM)Minimum EducationSuccessful completion of a AASM A-STEP polysomnography program from a nationally accredited education facilityPreferred QualificationsAt least 1 to 2 years of Sleep physician practice experience in a similar role RRT, Registered Respiratory TechnologistListed on Board of Registered Polysomnographic Technologists as a Registered Polysomnographic Technologist Comprehensive Benefits OfferedCompetitive and affordable benefits packageShift DifferentialsContinuing Education assistanceTuition reimbursementStudent Loan relief through FiduciusQuick commute access from I-84, Route 9 and surrounding areasAbout Middlesex HealthThe Smarter Choice for your Career!Come join one of Connecticut’s Top Workplaces, and a Magnet designated organization!
