Job Description

Position Summary Serves as a key resource supporting assigned Epic applications and end users. Works closely with operational teams to analyze business needs, troubleshoot issues, configure Epic solutions, and support system enhancements. Develops specialized knowledge within an assigned operational area (e.g., revenue cycle, inpatient, ambulatory) while ensuring solutions align with organizational workflows and Epic best practices. Key Responsibilities Serve as a subject matter resource for assigned Epic applications and related operational workflows. Partner with end users to gather requirements, analyze business processes, identify root causes, and recommend system solutions. Scope requests, estimate work effort, and support projects from design through implementation while collaborating with Epic representatives, technical teams, and operational leaders. Analyze and resolve moderately complex support tickets, identify enhancement opportunities, and troubleshoot application issues. Independently perform Epic configuration and build activities, including rules, templates, security, and workflow modifications, while following change management and documentation standards. Conduct unit testing, coordinate quality assurance testing, document build decisions, and support build migrations between environments. Assist with Epic upgrades by reviewing release notes, developing test plans, executing testing, and implementing required changes. Coordinate and support integrations with third-party applications, interfaces, devices, and vendors. Communicate project status, milestones, risks, and solutions with leadership, team members, and stakeholders. Build relationships with super users, provide user support and training, facilitate meetings, and present information to technical and non-technical audiences. Mentor less experienced team members and provide technical guidance on build, testing, and workflow optimization. Participate in ongoing professional development, Epic forums, and continuous process improvement initiatives. Knowledge & Skills Knowledge of Epic application configuration, maintenance, and support. Understanding of healthcare operations such as scheduling, registration, billing, revenue cycle, or clinical workflows. Strong analytical, troubleshooting, and critical thinking skills. Ability to identify root causes and develop practical, data-driven solutions. Knowledge of project management principles and ability to manage multiple priorities. Excellent organization, attention to detail, and time management skills. Strong verbal and written communication skills with the ability to explain technical concepts to non-technical users. Customer-focused with strong collaboration, facilitation, and relationship-building skills. Ability to lead projects, guide team members, and adapt in a fast-paced environment. Knowledge of healthcare regulations and process improvement methodologies preferred. Education Bachelor's degree required. An Associate's degree with two additional years of related experience or a high school diploma/GED with four additional years of related experience may substitute for the bachelor's degree. Experience Minimum of one year of experience supporting or implementing Epic applications, including application configuration, template management, or system build. Additional experience in application support, operational analysis, user consultation, presentations, and end-user training is preferred. The posted pay range is Boston Children’s reasonable and good-faith expectation for this pay at the time of posting. Any base pay offer provided depends on skills, experience, education, certifications, and a variety of other job-related factors.
