Unit Manager - Behavioral Health Center

*POSITION SUMMARY:***

*The Behavioral Health Manager***is responsible for the strategic development, operational management and overall administration of the Behavioral Health Services assists the Behavioral Health Administrator as needed. Included in these responsibilities are the development and implementation of a high quality treatment program and the development and maintenance of a well-trained clinical staff. Organizational, verbal, interpersonal, mathematical and analytical skills are required in the performance of these responsibilities.**

*LICENSURE/CERTIFICATION/REGISTRATION :*

• *BLS within first week of hire*

• *First Aid within 30 days of hire*

• *Handle With Care within 30 days of hire*

*EDUCATION:***

• *RN/ LPN Preferred*

• *Consideration for Bachelor’s , Masters Degree, complying with any state specific educational and licensure requirements in Business, Healthcare, Psychology, Nursing, Counseling or related field. Substitute relevant experience with supervisory capacity in inpatient behavioral health setting.*

*TASKS:*****

• *Supports hospital mission statement philosophy and goals*

• *Trained in safety and medical emergency management*

• *Modify patient treatment plans as indicated by patients' responses and conditions.*

• *Trained in applying physical intervention techniques as a last resort to prevent harm to patients, visitors and/or staff*

• *Consult and coordinate with health care team members to assess, plan, implement and evaluate patient care plans.*

• *Maintain the safety of the Milieu*

• *Creates and maintains staff schedules*

• *Completes HBIPS data collection*

• *Develop and implement clinical program and monitors quality of care*

• *Develop well trained clinical staff*

• *Oversees Performance Improvement with team members and analyzes trends*

• *Assist with efficient management of fiscal and human resources*

• *Review and analyze monthly DOR reports.*

• *Manages assigned unit budget.*

• *Develops and implements Community Outreach Strategies – Referral Development*

• *Acts on behalf as the Behavioral Health Administrator when absent, due to illness/vacations.*

• *Coordinates survey activities (JCAHO, Medicaid, licensing and Medicare).*

• *Participates in the development, implementation and evaluation of new programs and services.*

• *Participates in medical staff and hospital committee meetings related to the unit/department, as requested.*

• *Establishes the agenda, including the identification of issues and/or cases to include prompt resolution.*

• *Provides or assists with inservice education and orientation of new and existing staff.*

• *Collects and analyzes the referral data on a monthly basis.*

• *Develops strategies that will define and promote the unit’s programs.*

• *Delegates task, and shares responsibilities and authority whenever appropriate.*

• *Organizes and coordinates the work of the program staff.*

• *Institutes and enforces necessary unit policies and guidelines.*

• *Provides periodic reports that substantiate the unit’s efficiency and effectiveness.*

• *Promote the organization's products and services.*

• *Promotes Customer Service (Patients, Families, Team Members, Physicians)*

• *Active Member of BH leadership team; participates in Administrator on-call rotation and all other duties as assigned.*
