Position HighlightsDepartment: Volunteer ServicesHours: 20 hours per weekConsistent Schedule with Flexibility10:00 a.m. – 6:30 p.m. on two weekdays (typically Thursday and Friday)8:30 a.m. – 12:30 p.m. every SaturdayOpportunity for schedule flexibility, with the possibility of working Tuesday or Wednesday instead of Thursday, based on business needs.Predictable hours with a short Saturday shift, allowing you to enjoy most of your weekend.Position SummaryThis position is responsible for greeting and monitoring everyone entering Middlesex Hospital through the main entrance. Employees direct patients, identify and control public visitation, and monitor public entry to the hospital according to current Hospital policies. Essential Duties & Responsibilities1. Greet everyone coming through the front door of Middlesex Hospital2. Determine if a person is a patient, visitor, vendor, or student observer and provide the appropriate day pass using the security badge system by entering a license or other form of ID and taking their picture when necessary. This is followed up by giving directions, room numbers, etc as needed.3. Direct patients to services. Provide an escort or wheelchair as necessary to get the patient where they need to go. 4. Answer calls on the multi-line phone to forward patient calls, answer questions from families or health Insurance providers 5. Check in infusion patients and call ahead for approval to send the patient to the Unit. Weekends and Holidays open the desk at 8:30 am to service those Infusion patients scheduled before the front door is unlocked to the public.6. Monitor the visitation to privacy patients by the use of EPIC or passcode provided by the patient’s nurse or unit secretary.7. Check-In Pulmonary, Sleep Study and Chronic Care patients. direct them to wait and call the program to pick them up in the lobby. Watch to be sure pick- up is completed in a timely manner and the patient is not left waiting. Accept the drop-off of sleep monitors from patients and call the program to pick them up.8. Deliver patient mail, packages, and drop-offs to the unit nursing station. 9. Contact security to escort police, state marshals, attorneys, etc who need to visit a unit or patient.10. Explain and provide information on the Business Office, Cashier, and Medical Records, whose services are no longer provided in person at the main hospital.11. Monitor people waiting in the lobby for physical problems, distress, delayed pick up, unattended children, or unnecessary noise. Assist when necessary including the calling of Emergency codes via #55.12. Assist people coming to pick up patients being discharged. Explain where to park for pick up and call units or surgery to alert them to the arrival of the pickup driver.
