POSITION SPECIFICS Title: Pharmacy Technician FTE: 1.0 FTE (80 hours per 2-week pay period) Schedule: Will rotate through three scheduled shifts: 0630 – 1500, 0800-1630, 0900-1730 Holiday Rotation: 2 holidays annually, 0630-1500 Weekend Rotation: 1 weekend per month On Call Requirements: None POSITION SUMMARY Working under the direction of the Pharmacists and Pharmacy Director, assist with the day-to-day operation of the Pharmacy Department. POSITION TECHNICAL RESPONSIBILITIES Perform unit dose drug packaging and distribution throughout the hospital, including the preparation of daily patient drug supply and performing labeling function accurately and efficiently. Prepare intravenous admixtures and compounding, including maintaining sterile technique at all times and accurately performs pharmacy math calculations. Responsible for maintaining accurate and up-to-date narcotic record keeping. Responsible for daily checking of the pharmacy medication refrigerator/freezer temperature. Fill and restock Omnicell cabinets. Fill medication drawers, keep them updated, and exchange them once daily (M-F, excluding weekends and holidays). Fill and exchange anesthesia drug trays. Responsible for the review, reconciliation, and resolution of Pharmacy billing issues, including Omnicell and Surgery. Sort medications and return them to shelves (when appropriate) after a patient is discharged. Fill and distribute drugs to other departments and clinics based on completed pharmacy request or drug requisition order form. Manage Pharmacy inventory, including maintaining adequate stock level and stickering, scanning, and putting away drugs on the shelves when they arrive. Check all medications in assigned area(s) for outdates and for regulatory compliance gaps. Assist in data collection for QI or outcome studies. Clean shelves and drawers as needed. Attend Pharmacy staff meetings and other meetings as assigned by the Pharmacy Director. Perform other assigned duties as determined by the Pharmacists and Pharmacy Director. POSITION REQUIREMENTS Education: Required: High School Diploma or equivalent Preferred: None Experience: Required: None Preferred: 1-year experience in a hospital pharmacy Licenses and Registrations: Required: Pharmacy Technician registration with the WI Dept of Safety and Professional Services (DSPS). Must apply for registration as a Pharmacy Technician with the WI Dept of Safety and Professional Services (DSPS) and provide proof of application to their SPH Recruiter prior to start date. Preferred: None Certification(s): Required: None Preferred: Pharmacy Technician Certification Board, Inc.
