Job Description
Position Summary/ Department Summary: Supervises provision of clinical services by respiratory care and ECMO staff. Monitors and evaluates patient volume and acuity levels to comply with department quality assurance/improvement standards for patient care. Provides direct patient care and consultation in both respiratory care and ECMO services. Key Responsibilities: Supervises Respiratory Therapists and ECMO Specialists across a variety of clinical programs and settings. Provides evaluation of staffs’ performance. Counsels staff and utilizes disciplinary measures to improve performance. Supervises the operations of the Respiratory Care Department and ECMO Program. Maintains and monitors appropriate staffing and equipment levels, and associated resources. Provides direct and consultative respiratory care and extracorporeal life support. Provides leadership and guidance in the development and evaluation of clinical practice, technical and departmental procedures, and promotes professionalism. Participates in quality improvement initiatives and serves as department representative to clinical programs. Minimum Qualifications Work Experience Required: 4 years of clinical experience as a licensed respiratory therapist with a minimum of three years in a pediatric specialty. Work requires completion of extracorporeal membrane oxygenation training with one to years of clinical experience as an Associate ECMO Specialist. Education: Associates Degree and Bachelors Degree in a complementary field is required. Bachelors Degree and or Masters Degree is preferred. Respiratory Therapy area of study is required. Licensure/ Certifications: Current Massachusetts license as a Respiratory Therapist is required. This position is eligible for full-time benefits and a $20,000 sign-on bonus (not eligible for internal candidates and not eligible for former BCH employees who worked here in the past 2 years) The posted pay range is Boston Children’s reasonable and good-faith expectation for this pay at the time of posting. Any base pay offer provided depends on skills, experience, education, certifications, and a variety of other job-related factors.
