Position HighlightsDepartment: MH Ear Nose and ThroatHours: 37.5 hours per weekShift: 1st shift, Days  Position Summary Applies the nursing process with patients and families, integrating principles that reflect sensitivity to their age-specific/developmental needs, gender, culture, religion, psychosocial and socioeconomic backgrounds in order to provide evidence-based, holistic care in a manner that respects the worth and dignity of each individual. Practices professional nursing as a licensed practical nurse within the legal and ethical framework established by the Connecticut Nurse Practice Act and the American Nurses Association Scope and Standards for Nursing Practice and Code for Nurses, and applicable regulatory agencies.Essential Duties & Responsibilities Under General Supervision:Oversee the Medical Assistant schedule daily work assignmentsOversee the clinical competency for the Medical AssistantsAssist the Front Desk with the intake process (ensuring that the patient is initially scheduled with the appropriate provider subspecialist)Help triage the appropriateness of incoming urgent referralsFacilitate the navigation process for patients with complex clinical diseases that require coordination of clinical tests, labwork, or advanced clinical studiesFacilitate and streamline the prescription refill process (with documented refill protocols from the providers)Manage the pre-authorization process of ordered clinical studies and outgoing referralsIn an MA’s absence, provide direct patient care (rooming, vitals, medication reconciliation, assisting providers with procedures) necessary for in-clinic workflow.Triages urgent calls from patients that are too complex for medical assistants.Assists providers with office based procedures.Rooms patients and manages Epic in-basket messages as needed.Processes medication refills.Other job related duties as assigned. Minimum QualificationsGraduate of an accredited School of NursingCurrently licensed to practice in the State of Connecticut. Has the knowledge and skills necessary to assess health needs of patients and to perform nursing care in a safe, caring manner.Preferred QualificationsPrevious Lead experience in a clinical roleComprehensive Benefits OfferedCompetitive and affordable benefits packageShift DifferentialsContinuing Education assistanceTuition reimbursementStudent Loan relief through FiduciusQuick commute access from I-84, Route 9 and surrounding areasAbout Middlesex HealthThe Smarter Choice for your Career!Come join one of Connecticut’s Top Workplaces, and a Magnet designated organization!
