The Infusion Center & Wellness Clinic Registered Nurse (RN) is responsible for delivering safe, compassionate, patient-centered care in Griffin Health's outpatient Infusion Center while serving as a cross-covering team member for the CHF/COPD Wellness Clinic. This unique role spans two specialized ambulatory care settings, providing comprehensive infusion therapy and chronic disease management for patients with complex medical needs. The RN collaborates with physicians, advanced practice providers, pharmacists, case managers, and other members of the interdisciplinary team to deliver high-quality, patient-centered care. ### Primary Responsibilities * Administer intravenous medications, biologic and immunologic therapies, chemotherapy, blood products, injections, hydration therapy, and other prescribed infusion treatments. * Perform comprehensive nursing assessments before, during, and after treatment. * Initiate and maintain peripheral intravenous access using evidence-based techniques. * Monitor patients for adverse reactions and respond appropriately to infusion-related emergencies. * Educate patients and caregivers regarding diagnoses, medications, treatment plans, infusion therapies, symptom management, and self-management strategies. * Collaborate closely with physicians, advanced practice providers, pharmacists, case managers, and other members of the healthcare team to coordinate high-quality patient care. * Maintain accurate, timely documentation within the electronic medical record (Meditech). * Adhere to all hospital policies and applicable state, federal, Joint Commission, OSHA, and professional nursing standards. * Participate in quality improvement initiatives, patient safety activities, competency validation, and departmental education. * Provide cross-coverage in the Wellness Clinic, caring for patients with Congestive Heart Failure (CHF) and Chronic Obstructive Pulmonary Disease (COPD), including patient assessment, IV diuretic administration, medication management, chronic disease education, and care coordination. ## Experience ### Required * Minimum of five (5) years of clinical Registered Nurse experience. * Demonstrated proficiency in peripheral IV insertion, venipuncture, infusion pump operation, and emergency response. * Strong clinical assessment, critical thinking, communication, and organizational skills. * Ability to work independently in a fast-paced ambulatory setting while collaborating effectively with an interdisciplinary team. ### Preferred * Previous outpatient infusion, oncology, or specialty infusion nursing experience. * Experience administering biologic therapies, chemotherapy, blood products, and specialty infusion medications. * Experience caring for patients with chronic cardiac and pulmonary disease. * Chemotherapy/Biotherapy Provider certification or willingness to obtain. * Experience using an electronic medical record (EMR); Meditech experience preferred. ## Education & Licensure ### Required * Graduate of an accredited School of Nursing. * Current Registered Nurse (RN) license in the State of Connecticut. * Basic Life Support (BLS) certification. * Advanced Cardiovascular Life Support (ACLS) certification. ### Preferred * Bachelor of Science in Nursing (BSN). * Oncology Certified Nurse (OCN), Certified Registered Nurse Infusion (CRNI), or other relevant infusion nursing certification.
