Job Description

The Senior Surgical Services Coordinator is a critical operational leader and strategic resource within surgical services. Drives complex scheduling, referral management, and financial clearance processes, ensuring seamless coordination across multiple clinical and administrative functions. Acting as a key liaison between surgical teams, revenue cycle operations, and executive leadership, this role champions workflow optimization and process improvement initiatives that directly impact patient experience and organizational performance. Maintains collaborative relationships across multiple business units including the USFTGP supported department and ASC's, Hospitals or both depending on the surgical staff being supported. Beyond technical expertise, provides guidance and mentorship to other coordinators, setting standards for best practices and compliance with institutional protocols. By influencing cross-functional collaboration and operational excellence, this role plays a pivotal part in advancing surgical services efficiency and supporting the success of the entire care delivery system. Responsible for performing job duties in accordance with mission, vision, and values of Tampa General Hospital. Essential Functions: Coordinate complex surgical services activities, including referrals, authorizations, and scheduling for procedures and surgeries. Serve as a technical resource and mentor for other Surgical Services Coordinators. Support workflow and process improvement initiatives to enhance communication and scheduling support. Act as a liaison between clinical teams, revenue cycle operations, and administrative staff. Collaborate with scheduling staff to expedite appointments and resolve scheduling conflicts. Ensure compliance with policies, protocols, and regulatory requirements. Maintain accurate records and documentation as required. Track and maintain provider schedules and operating room blocks to maximize efficiency. Facilitate timely scheduling and financial clearance for procedures and surgeries.

QUALIFICATIONS: Associate's Degree Business, Healthcare Administration, or Related Field Minimum of five (5) years of experience in surgical services coordination or similar clinical/administrative role.
