Position Description The Patient Transporter is responsible for the safe, friendly, and expeditious transport of patients and supplies to and from locations throughout the hospital campus. Patient Transporter is required to operate and maintain (cleanliness/safety) various types of patient transport devices such as: beds, specialty chairs, stretchers and wheelchairs to include associated support equipment such as: oxygen tanks, monitoring equipment, IV poles, IV pumps, bed inflations units and drainage tubing and containers. Major Responsibilities

Transports patients to various hospital departments before and after procedures and/or appointments as needed. Ensure patients are comfortable and safe during transit. Monitoring the schedule system for transport request and completing them promptly. Transports patients via wheelchair to private transportation vehicles after discharge. Transports laboratory specimens by picking-up specimens and delivering them to specified laboratory. Delivering medical equipment, supplies as needed to designated locations. Providing information and directions to patients and visitors Maintains cleanliness of patient areas. Assists patients in finding hospital locations. Uses appropriate lifting and transporting devices.

Education and/or Experience

High School diploma or equivalent required Customer service experience preferred Knowledge of medical terminology preferred BLS for Healthcare Provider required or obtained within 90 days of hire Must stay current in knowledge base and meet Hospital-mandated education requirements
