Job Description

Position Summary Under general supervision, takes diagnostic exams with utilization of radiation, magnetic fields and RF fields. Utilization of the CT scanners to perform exams of patient anatomy. Also performs related work as required. CT Technologists ensure all actions taken in carrying out responsibilities support patient-centered care. Position Responsibilities Unit Specific Position Responsibilities Qualifications, Knowledge & Experience Required Qualifications (Including any licensure, certification, education): Completion of a 24 month American Medical Association approved course in Radio-logic Technology. Possession of certification by the American Registry of Radiologic Technologists. Possession of current Iowa Permit to Practice. Certification in BLS for Healthcare Providers. Mandatory Reporter training within 90 days of hire and must maintain throughout employment. Organizational Requirements: Maintain stroke education per regulatory requirements. Preferred Qualifications: None Specified Required Knowledge, Skills & Experience: Six months of experience working in all aspects of CT Scanning. Knowledge of all diagnostic CT Scanning procedures; knowledge of parameters of film quality; knowledge of patient positioning; knowledge of film development; some knowledge of records to be maintained. Ability to perform diagnostic CT Scanning procedures; ability to position patients; ability to quality check electronic images as well as developed film; ability to develop film; ability to prepare records. Knowledge of basic arithmetic, algebra and geometry, and their applications Knowledge of the structure and content of the English language including the meaning and spelling of words, rules of composition, and grammar. Active Listening skills, giving full attention to what other people are saying, taking time to understand the points being made, asking questions as appropriate, and not interrupting at inappropriate times. Ability to demonstrate clinical competence and maintain current knowledge in caring for adolescent through geriatric patients. Ability to communicate effectively both verbally and in writing in English. Preferred Knowledge, Skills & Experience: None Specified
