# This position is eligible for a $7,500#hiring bonus! # Title Certified Surgical Technologist (CST) # Summary# The Certified Surgical Technologist#applies the principles of asepsis in a knowledgeable manner and provides optimal patient-centered care in the operating room by preparing a sterile field, organizing and providing sterile instruments, supplies and equipment, and facilitating invasive procedures. # On our Surgery team, you won#t be just a number; you#ll be part of a supportive, caring and highly skilled team. This position will allow you to work on a variety of cases in a newer facility. Please note that the specific compensation for this role will be determined based on experience, education#and internal equity considerations. The hourly wage range for this position is#$32.45#$45.81.#This range reflects the base salary for this position. # Key Accountabilities Maintains an organized and sterile field for surgical procedures Applies principles of aseptic techniques per AORN standards, and informs the surgeon/surgical team of infractions. Performs a surgical hand scrub following an established procedure. Utilizes and places approved sterile drapes. Assists with cleaning of surgical rooms in preparation for the next patient. Facilitates a physician#s and surgical team#s performance of invasive and diagnostic procedures Anticipates the needs of the surgeon and surgical team by passing instruments and providing sterile items in an efficient manner. Performs counts of sponges, sharps and instruments per procedure. Prepares sterile dressings. Follows surgeon#s direction for retracting, cutting of suture and dressing application. Organizes and provides sterile instruments, supplies and equipment Organizes the sterile instruments, supplies and equipment for each surgical procedure as required per the physician#s preference card. Properly utilizes equipment. Follows AAMI/AORN recommended practices for decontamination/sterilization of instruments. Demonstrates proper procedure and use of autoclaves, steris, sterrad, ultrasonic cleaner and washer/sanitizer. Cleans, wraps and prepares instruments for sterilization. Assists in the maintenance and cleaning of equipment. Assists with OR cleaning and restocking. Performs all quality control functions as required, including documentation, preventative maintenance, mechanical, biological, chemical monitoring product and load identification, traceability recall procedure, and bowie-dick testing. Handles hazardous pharmaceutical waste in accordance with hospital protocol, including properly disposing of hazardous wastes, ensuring hazardous waste disposal containers are closed, and recognizing any hazardous waste spills or emergencies and contacting the hospital#s hazardous waste coordinator accordingly. Qualifications Graduate of an accredited OR technician program One of the following certifications must be obtained within 6 months of hire or employment will be terminated. The employee is responsible for all associated costs: NCCT # National Center for Competency Testing AAH # American Allied Health NBSTSA # National Board of Surgical Technology and Surgical Assisting Current BLS must be enrolled in NH+C RQI program and complete the requirements within 90 days of enrollment. Must remain current# (complete quarterly assignments prior to the end of each calendar quarter). Initial Crisis Prevention Certification (CPI) within six months. Workplace Violence education in New Employee Orientation and annually thereafter.
