Join WakeMed's General Surgery team and play an important role in creating an exceptional experience for our patients and families. At WakeMed, our Patient Registration Representatives are often the first impression of our practice. We are looking for a customer-focused professional who enjoys interacting with patients, managing multiple priorities, and delivering service aligned with the Wake Way to Excellence. Position SummaryThe Patient Registration Representative accurately performs administrative duties required for patient registration, including entering demographic and insurance information, collecting copays, and ensuring a seamless patient experience. This role serves as a liaison between patients, healthcare providers, and the community, requiring excellent communication, professionalism, and attention to detail. What You'll Do: Customer ServiceDemonstrate Wake Way behaviors: Respect for People, Communication, Commitment & Accountability, and Teamwork.Provide compassionate, inclusive, and responsive service to patients and families.Create a welcoming and professional experience for every patient encounter.Ensure a consistent WakeMed experience across all points of service. Registration & SchedulingGreet and check patients in for appointments.Verify patient identity and accurately enter demographic information.Schedule and reschedule appointments.Manage waitlists and work queues.Transcribe physician orders as needed.Facilitate MyChart access and assist patients with electronic check-in.Complete registration documentation and obtain required consent forms. Financial & InsuranceEnter and verify insurance information.Confirm insurance eligibility and coverage priority.Obtain insurance authorizations as needed.Provide patient estimates when applicable.Collect copays, point-of-service payments, and pre-payments.Reconcile and maintain cash drawer activities. CommunicationCommunicate clearly and professionally with patients, providers, and team members.Utilize various communication methods, including telephone, text messaging, and electronic medical record messaging.Provide exceptional customer service while managing multiple priorities in a busy practice setting. Ideal CandidateWe're especially interested in candidates who:Have previous experience as a Patient Registration Representative in an outpatient surgery center, surgical specialty practice, or similar healthcare setting.Enjoy working directly with patients and providing outstanding customer service.Have strong organizational and multitasking abilities.Are comfortable working with insurance verification, copay collections, and scheduling.Thrive in a high-volume, fast-paced environment.Demonstrate professionalism, empathy, and accountability in every interaction. Living the Wake Way to ExcellenceAt WakeMed, we hire team members who embody our core values:Respect for PeopleTeamworkCommitment & AccountabilityCommunicationWake Way 2 Excellence Department DescriptionServing the community since 1961, WakeMed Health & Hospitals is the leading provider of health services in Wake County.
