Job Description

Job Summary:
Perform various housekeeping functions, cleaning, sanitation, and other housekeeping functions observing high-sanitation and safety standards in accordance with hospital policies and procedures as well as State and Federal laws.  Provide for planning, directing, coordinating, and evaluation of staff for department success.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:
Knowledgeable in general cleaning procedures of patient rooms and common areas throughout the Hospital.
Communicate effectively with medical staff, hospital employees, and administration.
Maintain high level of patient satisfaction for facility cleanliness and appearance.
Manage the department in a professional manner that complies with CMS requirements.
Function as supervisory leader for all EVS staff.
Completes schedule on a monthly basis, maintains documents for quarterly reports.
Maintain adequate linen supply and orders as needed.
Remove waste and soiled linens using proper disposal procedures.
Operate housekeeping mechanical equipment.
Trains new employees of processes and procedures of department and hospital.
ADDITIONAL RESPONSIBILITIES

KNOWLEDGE/SKILL/ABILITIES:
Ability to read, write and speak English preferred.
General knowledge of sanitation in a hospital and clinical setting.
AGE-RELATED COMPETENCIES:
Demonstrates the basic knowledge and skills necessary to identify age-specific patient needs appropriate for this position.
Information Management:
Treats all information and data within the scope of the position with appropriate confidentiality and security.

Education

High school diploma or equivalent preferred.
Work Experience

One to three years prior cleaning experience in a health care or institutional setting.

License/Certification

ENVIROMENTAL CONDITIONS:
Work environment consists of daily patient contact, which may include exposure to blood, or other body fluids.
