This position functions in accordance with established policies, procedures and hospital standards. Key Responsibilities:Accurately utilize the features of the switchboard consoles, headsets, telephones and other related equipment Answer all calls and respond to requests in a timely, professional and accurate manner Utilize computer technology to initiate both numeric and alpha pages for routine and emergency situations and record all emergency codes in accordance with established policiesMonitor alarms located in the switchboard and notify appropriate personnel as required Respond quickly and accurately to STAT and other emergency situations Maintain confidentiality, security and integrity of patient and organizational dataEnsure release of information is consistent with privacy policiesPerforms other duties as assigned by department managementMinimum Qualifications:High School Diploma or equivalentDemonstrated telephonic customer service experience, preferably in healthcare, is requiredPrevious switchboard experience is preferredExcellent listening, verbal and written communication skillsAccurate data entry and basic typing skillsPer Diem: Based on availability; will be scheduled into shifts in advanceMiddlesex HealthBased in Middletown, Connecticut, Middlesex Health, a member of the Mayo Clinic Care Network, includes Middlesex Hospital, a not-for-profit magnet hospital with 275 beds, and two Middlesex Health Cancer Center locations. It also features three emergency departments and two urgent care centers, along with many other programs and services.
