Duties and responsibilities include overseeing processing payroll, maintaining timekeeping records, reviewing payroll and payroll reports for accuracy, and maintaining accurate setup and tax filings federally and in multiple states and jurisdictions. The position has minimal supervision. Our values ask for a deeper level of commitment, and we freely give what is asked of us because we believe in our mission.RequiredQualifications:Associates degree in Finance or Accounting or any active Payroll Professional CertificationsMinimum of three (3) years of payroll experience or any other accounting or bookkeeping experienceIntermediate to advanced PC skillsBasic accounting principles, payroll processing, tax withholdingPositive and proactive communication skillsKnowledge of automated timekeeping systemsStrong problem-solving and customer service skillsKnowledge about US federal, state, and local payroll tax lawsAbility to maintain full confidentiality and comply with non-disclosure requirements due to the nature of the jobPreferredQualifications:Bachelor’s degree in business/accounting or equivalent courseworkHealthcare experienceDuties and Responsibilities:Processes payroll per schedule, including wage and overtime payments, calculations, and recording of payroll deductions and requests for off-cycle paychecksVerifies timekeeping records and reviews payroll before finalizing to ensure accuracy. Prepares and transmits direct depositsMaintain confidentiality of all information handledCalculate and process final pay-outs to terminated employeesGenerates and verifies payroll reports out of the payroll systemPrepares and reviews periodic reports of earnings, taxes, and deductions. File amendments and annual summaries and perform all related tasks. Reconciles quarter-end and year-end reports. Verifies and reconciles W2s before issuanceSets up garnishments and levies and performs necessary communications for garnishment-related mattersAnswer or refer payroll-related inquiries from caregiversProvide and prepare necessary training and training materials for caregivers and leaders to utilize for payroll-related purposes. Documents and updates written payroll procedures. Maintains payroll documentation and filesCompletes applications in multiple states in order to set up state tax IDs and ensures proper setup and accurate state tax filings. Maintain registrations. Provide training to other departments if necessaryProvide training and directions to a Payroll Technician. Review and assign work to the Payroll TechnicianMaintains direct deposit documentation, pre-note processes, and system data. Provide project assistance to other departments as neededEstablish and foster full partnerships with internal customersPrepare detailed payroll reports and special reports for managementProvide back-up to other department positions based on workload and absencesRespond to technical payroll questions, explain policies/procedures, and resolve issuesProcesses year-end production of W-2 forms, responsible for the entire process, accuracy, and all necessary reporting and amendmentsPerform a variety of functions related to payroll processes, including data entry, record-keeping, auditing, and reportingProcess payroll adjustments (e.g., calculating, verifying, and preparing retroactive pay adjustments, overtime adjustments, and employee terminations)Review and prepare answers to inquiries from the Internal Revenue Service, state agencies, and other regulatory agenciesPrepare and file tax reports and make payments of taxes in a timely and accurate manner to comply with payroll laws and minimize penalty/risk exposure for the organizationEach caregiver is responsible for implementing SJRMC’s Service Standards into their daily work:Safety, Courtesy, Effectiveness, and StewardshipOther duties as assignedPhysical Requirements and Environmental Working Conditions:Prolonged periods of sitting at a desk and working on a computerMust be able to lift up to fifteen (15) pounds at times
