**SUMMARY OF THE JOB:** Deaconess of IL is seeking a motivated Summer Intern for their Medical Center location who is ready to apply knowledge of business practices and processes in a fast-paced, real-world environment. The intern will assist in writing reports, conducting research, analyzing data, and making recommendations to improve effectiveness and efficiency. This will be valuable experience for any student pursuing a career in health care. **JOB REQUIREMENTS & QUALIFICATIONS:** To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily and must clearly demonstrate all required competencies. Reasonable accommodations may be made to enable individuals with disabilities to perform the essential functions. * Opportunity for students and new graduates to gain professional work experience in the healthcare industry areas (Technology, Analytics, Finance, HR, Marketing, and Operations). * Interns are led and mentored by their direct supervisor. * Must be able to complete 8-week paid internship. * Strong analytical and problem-solving skills with ability to troubleshoot technical problems. * Ability to multi-task, self-start, work in a dynamic team environment and work independently. * Strong verbal and written communication skills, including the ability to translate ideas into clear priorities. * Willing to tackle new challenges and develop new skills. * Ability to work quickly with a large degree of autonomy. * Knowledge of adjacent technologies (e.g., EXCEL, TABLEAU, EPIC, ADP, CCNA, CCNP) or industry recognized certifications. * Each intern will deliver a 30-minute presentation reviewing their project, data analysis, conclusions and recommendations. * There are no guarantees of employment at the conclusion of the internship. **EDUCATION & EXPERIENCE:** Currently enrolled in an associate's, bachelor's or master's degree in a technical field, such as Marketing, Human Resources, Finance, Computer Science, Electrical/Computer Engineering, Information Technology or a similar field. **Certificates, Licenses, Registrations:** **N/A** **Language Skills** * Must possess effective verbal and written communication skills using appropriate grammar, vocabulary, and word usage. **Mathematical Skills** * Ability to add, subtract, multiply, and divide in all units of measure, using whole numbers, common fractions, and decimals. **Reasoning Ability** * Ability to solve practical problems and deal with a variety of concrete variables in situations where only limited standardization exists. * Ability to interpret a variety of instructions furnished in written, oral, diagram, or schedule form. **Computer Skills** * This job requires computer and systems competency in the following areas: enters data; retrieves data; assembles and organizes data, uses and analyzes data, integrates diverse sources of data. * The ability to learn and use the provided electronic medical record system within three months of attaining position. * **Other requirements** * Intern must be available to complete an 8-week internship at the Medical Center located in Marion, IL.
