**Job Summary** The Pharmacy Technician Trainee supports hospital pharmacy operations in a supervised, hands-on learning environment. This role assists with medication preparation, distribution, inventory management, and pharmacy system processes while completing required training and developing technical skills to support safe patient care. **Minimum Qualifications** * **Education:** High school diploma/GED required * **Maryland resident** * **Individuals eligible for the Maryland Service Year Program (generally ages 18 -24)** * **Experience:** None required * **Licensure/Certification:** * Must work under supervision of a licensed pharmacist or pharmacy technician * Expected to progress toward pharmacy technician responsibilities per organizational guidelines * **Skills & Abilities:** * Basic computer and data entry skills * Ability to follow detailed instructions and safety protocols * Strong attention to detail and accuracy * Good communication and teamwork skills * Ability to learn technical pharmacy processes and systems **What You 'll Do** * Complete required training and coursework while progressing through the trainee program * Assist with preparing medications for patient care units * Deliver medications to patient care areas and automated dispensing cabinets * Support inventory management, including stocking and monitoring medication supplies * Assist with repackaging medications and maintaining pharmacy stock (e.g., Pyxis systems) * Help maintain clean and organized pharmacy workspaces * Follow all safety, regulatory, and patient care protocols **What the Job is Really Like** * This is a **structured training role** with clear expectations for learning and development * You'll spend time on both **technical tasks and operational support** within the pharmacy * Accuracy is critical--errors can directly affect patient safety * The work can be repetitive but requires strong attention to detail * You'll work closely with pharmacists and technicians and follow direction throughout the shift * The environment is more **behind-the-scenes** compared to retail pharmacy roles **Work Environment & Demands** * Hospital pharmacy setting with limited direct patient interaction * Frequent standing, walking, and movement throughout the pharmacy and units (see physical demands on page 3) * Requires sustained concentration and attention to detail * Exposure to medications and controlled environments * Team-based, process-driven environment **What Success Looks Like** * Medications are prepared and delivered accurately and safely * Training milestones are completed successfully * Inventory and stock are maintained correctly * You follow all safety and regulatory standards consistently * You demonstrate growth in technical knowledge and reliability **Caring for Our Team**** **We offer a comprehensive benefits package to support our employees' well-being and professional growth.
